Day Two - RE Quality

Quality in construction is a key deliverable in any infrastructure project, not just in the military but across the sector. The second day of the symposium looks at this subject in a military context and how with learning from others and past experiences we can adapt and improve.

0845hrs: Question 1- How can we improve construction quality in the military projects?

Hosted by PEW's Maj McClure, the question will be discussed on how the Corps of Royal Engineers can improve construction quality within a military environment.

Quality Assurance processes will be reviewed by a senior Garrison Engineer looking at present procedures for addressing design and onsite quality. This brief is aimed at updating the organisational knowledge of the processes.  

Quality Control processes at unit level will be discussed by a unit Garrison Engineer with guidance on how procedures should be incorporated into unit projects. This presentation is aimed at refreshing the technical roster on present practises.

The session will open up the question to wider discussion, utilising breakout groups and feedback to to analyse how where quality could be improved. The session will conclude with back briefs from the two discussion group leads, outlining the topic and what the key points of each discussion highlighted. The findings of the session questionnaire will be presented with an opportunity for clarifying questions to the group leads and host.

Hosted by PEW's Maj Teeton, the question will be raised if with developments within modern methods of construction to address quality issues within construction practises, does the military need to incorporate these methodologies into modern military infrastructure doctrine.
